Run Away with Godwick Hall

Written by Emma Hla

We’re kicking off this, the last Monday of January, with a dash of romance thanks to Penny from The Little Lending Co. Penny pulled together a team of creative faves for this lovely elopement shoot that centres around Godwick Hall, the house at Godwick Great Barn in Norfolk.

The romance dial is turned up a notch as the models in this shoot are actually a newlywed couple – Joel & Aimee. These gorgeous folks also just happen to be the owners of Godwick and we quite frankly love them.

So grab that coffee, settle in and enjoy… You might just want to run away with Godwick Hall.

Notes from The Little Lending Co.

Penny:

This elopement shoot was designed with the beautiful backdrop of Godwick Hall in mind, which is a stunning Georgian hall that has been tastefully refurbished to combine classical elegance with modern luxury and style. Godwick Hall is a licensed wedding venue for up to 30 people that specialises in small and intimate weddings from 2 – 30 people. If you’re hoping to head somewhere exclusive and secret to say your vows Godwick may just be for you.

Its secluded and remote nature make it a perfect location for a ‘runaway’ bride and groom on their own romantic adventure with just them and a handful of family and close friends. The plan was to capture all the romance and intimacy of a small elopement wedding, where the focus is completely on the couple and the magic between them.

The style and set ups were easy and fuss free to allow the natural beauty of Godwick to stand out, so the flowers had a simple colour palette of white and greens, keeping everything loose, wild and with a freshly picked feel. Late spring blooms were used, combining a mix of peonies, ranunculus, astilby, antirunuums, campanula, olive, eucalyptus, astrantia, Veronica, dill and ruscus.

Outside in the garden a simple wooden frame was used as the backdrop for the ‘I do’s’ draped in greenery with a reindeer hide and vessels filled with candles at the base. A second casual, relaxed and informal ceremony was recreated indoors against the green teal wall and impressive fire place with a luxurious asymmetric focal floral arrangement and subtle candle light in glass and brass holders.

The dining table was set with a sheer white muslin runner, dotted with cut glass decanters and single greenery stems of eucalyptus and olive. Place names were hand written on the glasses. The caterers made some delectable and inspiring dishes from local and seasonal produce giving a foodie focus that felt apt for this celebration.

In a fitting finale our couple were centre stage again, as it should be for their small and private celebration, staging their own private “get-away” in the back of a rolled back, open top classic car with the words ‘Come Away with Me’ on the window. An appropriate romantic sign off for their runaway wedding.
