My Glamping Adventure at Walcot Hall

As I sit writing this piece, August is on its way out and with it our fleeting summer days. But sunshine or no sunshine,  I wanted to you talk about glamping.

I’m almost ashamed to admit that the last time I went camping I was still in primary school, so when the opportunity came up to stay in a yurt on the Walcot Hall estate in Shropshire I pretty much jumped at the chance! Team Hla were well prepped – eggs, bacon, wellies, layers and dog all packed, we set off!

As you arrive at Walcot Hall estate you are presented with the most incredible driveway that takes you over a stunning lake complete with swans! Just before you get to the main house (which is ultra-pretty by the way and you can read my ‘Home Tour’ feature here) you climb a short gravelly hill to the glamping site. As I mentioned in the previous post; “With a blue sky, birds singing and beautiful lush green countryside as far as the eye could see, I would say I was pretty close to heaven!”

We stayed in the Gold Rush Yurt which overlooks it’s own pool, there’s even a rowing boat!  This beautiful elevated structure is super cosy and comes equipped with a beautiful bed, wood-burning stove, a private kitchenette and a decking area with BBQ. Within easy reach are the shared washroom facilities, which are converted hen sheds – all fabulously decorated in their own unique way!

Living in a city I was instantly amazed at the incredible sounds around us – leaves rustling in the spring breeze, laughter from nearby guests, the frogs chorus and the echoes of a woodpecker made for a heady mix. It was beautiful.

Whilst we were there we fully embraced the outdoors – we read whilst sipping wine, snuggled under blankets, explored the arboretum, popped into nearby Bishop’s Castle for a pub lunch and utterly relaxed. In fact it was the latter that I was so surprised by… Each year we board a plane to seek peace and solace; I didn’t realise I could find it so close to home.

If you fancy your own al fresco adventure, Walcot Hall offer so many wonderful accommodation options – from traditional holiday apartments to a converted Victorian Tin Chapel, yurts, gypsy caravan and even an old fire truck with a brass bed in the back! For all the details just take a look here.

Whether it’s accommodation for your wedding guests or a mini-moon break for two, I couldn’t recommend this stunning Shropshire wedding venue enough.
