Lauren & Dave’s Corinthia Hotel London Wedding

Written by Emma Hla

Simple, elegant and modern.

These three words pretty much sum up the beautiful wedding of Lauren & Dave. I adore their chosen palette of crisp whites and cool greys, in fact I’m green-eyed over their stationery suite!

The Corinthia Hotel London is all kinds of wonderful and the ceremony room reminds me of a certain film, all mirrored doors and decadent décor. The American hotel I’m thinking of was backdrop to a film about two Brides at war (you totally know the one I mean), but fear not; this intimate celebration was full of love and style.

Gorgeous imagery is courtesy of Cecelina Photography and their’s a sneak peek film by Silver Sixpence to boot!

Enjoy folks…

Notes from the Bride

Lauren:

As soon as we had decided to have a very small wedding with a great food and wine, we knew it had to be at The Corinthia! We had stayed there for my birthday a few years ago so it already had significance for us, it’s such a beautiful building and the service is incredible. Everything you could want in a venue.

Given the city venue and small number of guests, I set out to get a low key dress but didn’t get “the feeling” and was convinced I never would. I tried this one on in what must have been the 10th place I visited, and knew that low key was not to be! I changed the sash on the dress to make it a little less bling, and topped it off with obligatory Choos. My headpiece was designed by the lovely Victoria Allinson who has a beautiful boutique in Limpsfield – her shop is what bridal dreams are made of!

We didn’t have a theme as such, but it emerged as we made decisions along the way and is probably best described as modern romantic in shades of white and grey. We had very simple flowers, using only hydrangeas and peonies, but I wanted them to have high impact.

Luckily we have so many talented friends and family that we could take advantage of! My bridesmaid made her own dress, another friend designed the stationery and my mum made the cake. We loved that everyone had contributed in some way and it made it feel really personal.

We found our photographer Cecelina online and fell in love with her style, then we met her in person and fell in love even more – she is so lovely! A few weeks before the wedding we went to Richmond for our engagement shoot, and this definitely helped us feel more relaxed on the day.

We also found Ed & Penny from Silver Sixpence Films online, and we are so so happy we made the decision to have a video. It is so beautifully edited with music we had on the day, it takes us right back to the day whenever we watch it.

It is difficult to pick just one best part of the day – for me I would say the signing of the register, when Niche Quartet played a special arrangement we had requested. *Most* of my nerves had subsided by then (a solo walk down the aisle is not for the faint hearted!) and I could really take everything in, and see the smiles (and some tears) on everyone’s faces.

I’m completely in awe of the reception room at Corinthia…? Aren’t you…? That floor! Also, the simple palette and pretty florals work perfectly.

Thank you so much to Lauren & Dave for sharing their day, it’s been a pleasure.

Lots of love…
