15  Rustic Wedding Styling Tips

# 1 Vintage Bike

This vintage bike was the unsung hero of our wedding photos. We rode off into the fading sunlight and the pictures were perfection. They’re great to hang signage from, or collect cards in the basket on the front. Or keep it simple and use the basket to fill with fresh flowers.

# 2 Festoon Lights

What could be more romantic than as dusk settles around you the twinkling of string lights surround your venue…? There are so many uses, from stringing around message boards or draping through a tablescape, creating an evening ceremony backdrop or perhaps like us a little focus wall to sit in front of with your sweetheart.

# 3 Bunting

A classic, and in white it’s fresh and ceremonial. Hang from shepherds hooks to line the aisle, I’m loving this bunting created with doilies. For a wow-factor to your reception venue, string your bunting high between beams in old barns. It never gets old.

# 4 Troughs and Tin Baths

Tin baths and troughs are usually found holding the beer and bubbles at weddings. But I think they look super holding escort cards on little picked apples nestled amongst the hay, what do you think…?

# 5 Step Ladder

We’ve a lot of love for stepladders as they just have so much scope. From table plans (like the one pictured) to hanging favours from, to serving welcome drinks from the steps. It’s only your imagination that’s stopping you when it comes to ladder lovelies.

# 6 Deckchairs

Delightful deckchairs in the meadow, a British institution that just makes people smile. Great to have a little fun with signage on them too to make some wonderful styled photos with your loved one.

# 7 Antlers

A little alternative extra, it’s important to remember antlers are for life and not just for Christmas! Nestled in amongst flower filled trestle tables or hanging and wrapped with lights above the bar or why not tie them to finish a home made Tipi like we have here.

# 8 Jam Jars and Milk Bottles

Old jam jars and milk bottles are the ultimate rustic way in which to serve your welcome drinks. You can really set the tone for the day ahead. Here, on this styled drinks station, fresh lemon and rosemary infused lemonade and apple and cinnamon pop for seasonal options. Apple crates and old tables create the base whilst vintage scales filled with fruits add a gorgeous organic touch.

# 9 Outdoor Games

Let the little ones (and not so little ones) enjoy having a go at vintage games, from Croquet to Tennis. This screams quintessentially English garden party and will really bring the party together. Create a little area of interest with chalkboard signage and hay bales as a stand for racquets.

# 10 Logs

Bringing the outdoor in, logs are your cakes ultimate understated accessory. Sit your buttery beauty atop for the perfect rustic cake stand, or use as table centrepieces or aisle decoration too! Just top with jars of wild flowers or tea lights in the evening.

# 11 Milk Churns

Nothing comes close to a little bit of industrial rustic charm like a churn. The perfect pop-up floral display. Use to line the aisle, or make a statement and the Church door.

# 12 Blankets

Cuddling close in a toasty blanket with your favourite is the perfect way to finish a romantic day. Add some sweet signage and pack the blankets into an old crate and finish with candlelight. Fire pits and bonfires are a firm favourite at Rustic retreats, just imagine toasting marshmallows and sipping an indulgent midnight cocoa.

# 13 Vintage Cameras

We’re all for a nostalgic prop and these little finds are so perfectly paired with old books and little glass bottles. They are the perfect prop for table tops or little cubby holes with their timeless appeal and bound to get the older guests talking.

# 14 Typewriters

Totally make the best alternative guest book in our opinion. Guests get to refresh their typing skills without a delete key in sight! Typewriters are also a sweet way of leaving a love note for your guests, thanking them for joining you on your day.

# 15 Storm Lanterns

These fill nooks and crannies splendidly. From stairwells to entrances or outside lining pathways. Hang them in trees in the evening to see your guests safely home.
