After the venue search, I think the Wedding Breakfast choices are the next joint wedding planning project taken on by you and the boy…

I know my own husband-to-be was very much involved in which cheeses we’d be serving, which wine we’d be quaffing and what kind of cake we’d be devouring {he desperately wanted a naked cake, I kid you not}.

So today we have a simple Top 10 list of tips from Sarah, Events Manager at the utterly divine The George in Rye.

Hopefully this fabulous advice will set you and your beau on your way to Wedding Breakfast bliss…

Sarah’s Top Tips for the Perfect Wedding Breakfast…

  • Choose a venue with a dedicated wedding adviser. This is someone you will get to know well during the planning of your day, and who can help you every step of the way.
  • Familiarise yourself with the layout of your chosen venue. This will help you to organise your table plan confidently and to make appropriate arrangements for any elderly or disabled guests. You’ll also be able to visualise how you will use the venue at each stage of your wedding celebration.
  • A good schedule is key to ensuring a great reception. Plan the timings of your photographs, Champagne reception, wedding breakfast and speeches carefully. This is especially important if you’r inviting extra guests to an evening party. Bear in mind that most things take a little longer than you imagine they might!
  • Speak to your venue about recommended, tried and tested suppliers such as florist, cake designers and photographers. These suppliers will be familiar with the venue, it’s layout and any access arrangements, and hence often work more effectively on the day.
  • Arrange menu tastings with the venue prior to your wedding so that you will be confident in your menu choices.

  • Choose menus featuring fresh, local and seasonal produce and think about what your guests will enjoy. Ask guests to let you know about any special dietary requirements so that you can inform your venue.
  • As well as getting great shots of you and your guests, ask your photographer to capture all the details. Chances are you will have put a lot of time and thought in to your decorations, favours, flowers and cake and you want the photographs to highlight the entire day.
  • Ask about a separate menu for any children at your wedding and think about how to entertain them during the wedding breakfast. paper, crayons and perhaps even a table magician can work perfectly.
  • Ask your venue whether they have images of previous weddings. These can often give you inspiration and show what works particularly well.
  • Give the venues as much information as possible about your plans and your guests. This allows them to be well prepared and to create your dream wedding breakfast!
