The City Chic Bride by The Hair & Makeup Atelier

So you may have spotted that this week is dedicated to our recent Tropics in the City styled shoot which took place at the incredible Wimbourne House.

We talked you through the inspiration behind the shoot on Monday, the full shebang was shown on Wednesday (including a fab piece by stationery legends Cutture showing the design process behind creating our tropical suite) and today we’re chatting beauty with Jo from The Hair & Makeup Atelier!

We simply love working with Jo, not only is she so much fun to be around (great for the wedding morning ladies!) but she also translates our shoot briefs to perfection.

We really loved pulling together the looks for this shoot, so we wanted to share with you how to recreate this city bridal vibe. If luxe skin and voluminous hair are what you’re after for your big day then you’re going to want to make some notes.

I’ve also included some behind-the-scenes snaps by Rebbeca Goddard Photography from the shoot – enjoy!

Great eyeliner…

Trace a line using a slanted eyebrow brush first. I love to use a waterproof pencil such as Engraved by MAC. This is your guide and your chance to perfect a feline flick and to rub away any mistakes.

Make up artist tip: I like to draw on my flick with open eyes and extend from the lower lash line so that the placement is organic to the eye shape. Then apply a luxurious liquid liner, my favourite is Guerlains which comes with an easy to control, fine brush. The finish is blackest black and completely smudge proof, perfect for wedding days and nights!

Tips on Choosing Your Wedding Day Fragrance

Feature Image by Mango Studios via Style Me Pretty.

I have a signature scent, I’ve worn it since I was 18. It’s actually a man’s fragrance and I love it.

I can’t quite remember how or why I started wearing this particular brand (probably something to do with the boy I fancied at the time *ahem*) but it has become entwined with me and my identity. However, on my wedding day I wanted something different, something fresh and something that would instantly transport me back to that day the moment I breathed in it’s sweet tones.

So I turned to the lady herself, Coco Chanel and opted for Chance Eau Fraîche. I now love spritzing myself with this perfume and each time I do, it feels like a luxurious treat and I instantly feel those wedding day butterflies in my tummy.

I really enjoyed “shopping” for my wedding day fragrance, so I wonder… How important is fragrance to you…?

If you fancy delving into this subject a little more, we have Sapphire Pink back on the blog with their top tips on picking your big day fragrance…
