Richard & Shuang’s Nonsuch Mansion Wedding

Written by Emma Hla
This was Richard & Shuang’s second wedding (their legal ceremony took place in China) so this beautiful couple decided to do it their way and forgo certain traditions! I love that they had a first look, but I love the fact that they walked down the aisle together even more.

Notes from Nonsuch Mansion

Richard and Shuang met and fell in love in Shanghai and so decided to have a 1920’s Shanghai theme for their wedding.

Nonsuch Mansion was the perfect backdrop to this exciting theme as you can just imagine the fantastic parties they must have had here in the roaring twenties! All guests were encouraged to dress to the theme and the mansion was decorated to perfection by Wabana Flowers… as I was walking around I honestly felt like I had been transported back in time to Shanghai in the 1920s!

The very talented Charlie Campey captured the best moments on camera…

As they did the ‘legal bit’ in China before having their celebration in England it was ok for the Groom to see the bride in her dress! You’ll spot them together in our Bridal Suite just before heading down to our Orchid Room where all their friends and family were waiting!

They walked down the aisle together before exchanging beautiful vows, there wasn’t a dry eye left in the room!

It was a beautiful autumn day so everyone ventured outside for the confetti throw and a group picture. Whilst the wedding guests enjoyed canapés and fizz on the formal lawns the happy couple disappeared off into the ground for a few photos. The gardens at Nonsuch Mansion are a pretty gorgeous backdrop for a couple session!

Time for the wedding breakfast! The guests ate:

  • Smoked mackerel and horseradish pate with pickled radish salad and beetroot powder
  • Beef fillet with pomme puree, wilted spinach, heritage carrots and a rich jus
  • Mixed berry tart with crème patissiere, raspberry sorbet and white chocolate

Post dinner everyone made their way into the Rose Room to watch the first dance and then partied the night away to an excellent jazz band called The Jazzberries!
