Hannah & Adam; An Engagement Shoot & A Venue Search

Written by Emma Hla

You may have spotted we have some wonderful new sponsors joining us on our Venue Finder, interweaved amongst our glorious wedding venues. One of these fab wedding suppliers is Photographer Charlotte, the girl behind Electric Blue Photography & Film.

We ADORE Charlotte’s photography and her engagement shoot with Jordanna & Dan almost broke our website, the fitness was too much! I’m prepared for the same today as Hannah & Adam join us with their engagement story and their venue search!

These two are getting married at Shustoke Farm Barns in Warwickshire and, if these images are anything to go by, it’s going to be epic…

Notes from the Bride-to-be

Hannah:

The Proposal… Our engagement was really special and romantic. I arrived home from work one day to Adam handing me a glass of sangria and handing over an envelope stuffed with Euros! He told me that I wouldn’t be going back into work the following day as we were off to Barcelona for our anniversary! I was so shocked that he’d managed to book a holiday and arranged my leave without me knowing!

He’d booked a really beautiful hotel with panoramic views overlooking the city, and after a really lovely evening at the Magic Fountains, we sat in the window seat looking at the city all lit up and he got down on one knee. Queue the ugly cry, and of course screams of yes!

The Wedding Venue Search… A formal affair is definitely not our idea of the perfect wedding, so we wanted something really relaxed and simple. The most important factor when searching for our wedding venue was the exclusivity and the quality of food (and lots of it!) as both of families are big eaters! We knew that we wanted a small wedding too, so we felt that the venue had to have quite a warm intimate feeling.

The ‘One’… The minute we got engaged we both knew that we wanted to have our reception at Shustoke Farm Barns. I grew up in the house next door, so it had massive sentimental value to us and the rest of my family. The barns obviously look much different now from the dilapidated state they were in years ago, but still have all the beautiful original features we remember. It has a really simple rustic look that is timeless and can be easily moulded to suit our personalities. The team at Shustoke are both warm and professional and have taken a lot of stress off our shoulders.

Our day… We have booked the ceremony at St Giles in Nether Whitacre, a church that my Grandad used to work at so again it has that sentimental element that we’re after. All being well, he will be able to take the service too! In terms of styling the wedding, we want to keep it really simple and rustic and have that “country bumpkin” vibe with English country garden flowers and lots of wood. We’re still debating a colour scheme but will most likely be nudes/pastels, although we don’t plan on being really matchy matchy!

Our photographer… We never really considered having engagements shots initially, but we’re so glad we did! We’re not into really posed pictures as we find them a bit awkward, but Charlotte at Electric Blue Photography & Film was great at making us feel comfortable. We all decided that Digbeth would be a great spot to shoot as it has really vibrant wall art which we wanted to capture. The pictures are really natural which we wanted and she got them edited and sent to us in no time! The wooden USB were a really nice touch too! We can’t wait to see the wedding shots now!

Told you you’d love these two…

Thanks so much to Hannah & Adam for sharing their engagement shoot and of course, the story of their big day! As always, lots of love to Charlotte at Electric Blue!
