We absolutely love seeing our venues through the eyes of others and this beautiful winter wedding was recently captured by Christina Sarah Photography.

Christina says “This premier Surrey wedding venue is a must see if you’re planning a romantic countryside wedding.”

Indeed, nothing compares to the timeless romance of a country estate wedding and Northbrook Park is a truly spectacular setting for your special day. The venue boasts a stunning Grade II listed eighteenth-century manor house, set within 120 acres of idyllic parkland.

Christina continues “The elegance of Northbrook Park in Farnham, Surrey hit me as soon as I walked up the private driveway. It was a foggy winters day but this eighteenth-century manor house set surrounded by stunning countryside still looked majestic. Around every corner at Northbrook Park you’ll find such beauty (including Snowbell, their resident white peacock) and this was January, I can only imagine how stunning the grounds must be in spring and summer!”

Guests will be wowed by the magnificence of the country manor as they make their way up the grand drive. Northbrook Park has magnificent architecture and features a stunning Orangery and enchanting Vine Room with floor to ceiling windows, marble floors and crystal chandeliers.

Jen & Matt’s Millbridge Court Wedding

I have total wedding envy…

Not only did bride Jen marry at one of my favourite venues and have the fabulous VLA Photography to capture it all, but she also chose to wear one of the dresses that’s on my “if I were to do it all again…” list. So whilst this has been an absolute pleasure to write up, I must admit to the green eyed monster most definitely peeking over my shoulder!

A self-professed perfectionist Jen had a vision and pulled it altogether beautifully. So sit back and enjoy folks, there’s lots to be inspired by including some very wise words from our beautiful bride!

Notes from the Bride

Jen:

We chose Millbridge Court for a number of reasons – the location was perfect, just down the road from where my parents got married, and also where we got engaged! But primarily because the venue itself was absolutely stunning! We loved the decor in the front room – it’s everything I want my house to look like! But, we also liked the ‘flow’ of the venue; with two rooms it means you don’t have to worry about ushering guests around to move tables to make way for the evening do. We also loved the ‘outdoors in’ feel with the enormous glass windows. I am a photographer and I just KNEW that all that natural light would make for the most wonderful photos (I was right!).

My dress from was The Mews in Clifton in Bristol (where we live). I looked in a few places, but I just loved all the french designers at The Mews and kept coming back to this one designer – Rime Arodaky – and ultimately went for one of her dresses. I love the fact that it was quite an unusual shape, and I’d never seen a dress quite like it before, and I loved the low back. My mum and best girls fell in love with it so I knew I’d found the right one when I saw their faces!

Wedding Planning Excellence at Millbridge Court

Weddings are our focus, but every now and again we get to help people source beautiful venues for other celebrations; such as birthdays & naming ceremonies, corporate dinners & charity galas, through to industry workshops.

We’re happy to play matchmaker for all of the above so when the UKAWP (UK Alliance of Wedding Planners) approached us regarding their upcoming Wedding Planning Excellence course I absolutely wanted to be a part of it in some small way.

Instantly one venue came to mind for this two-day event and as you’ll see, it was utterly perfect. We have two renowned planners from UKAWP – Always Andri & Katrina Otter Weddings – telling us a little about the day and the event. There’s stunning styling from Jay Archer Floral Design, delicious feasts by in-house caterers Kalm Kitchen and beautiful images by Hannah Duffy Photography.

Notes from the Wedding Planning Excellence

Andri & Katrina:

The inspiration behind the styling

Millbridge Court’s fusion of rustic barn qualities with elegant contemporary design provided the perfect backdrop for styling the WPE. Working with the neutral colour palette, vaulted ceilings and glass walls of Millbridge, the other main styling influences came in the form of the UKAWP branding, combined with the vision of award winning wedding florist Jay Archer.

Using a combination of seasonal flowers (including ranunculus, anemone, eucalyptus, ivy berries, moss, snapdragon, clematis, astrantia, senecio, parvi, pampas, olive, spray roses and scabious) Jay worked with the aesthetics of the venue and logistics of the day to enhance the spaces and provide the most beautiful of settings for the WPE.

A simple winter wedding in the stunning ruins of Farnham Castle

A pretty lovely start to the morning thanks to Martin & Rachel’s big day captured by Real Simple Photography.

Notes from the Bride

Rachel:

We wanted our day to be fun, light, elegant and classically beautiful.

We searched for a venue that was simple, elegant and had accommodation. With family and friends travelling from across the country and world, we wanted somewhere special but easy to get to. As soon as we saw Farnham Castle online we were desperate to arrange a visit. It didn’t disappoint. The ruins, castle and the views are all stunning. The team were fantastic, explained all the options, answered endless questions and put us completely at ease.

The wedding dress was silk bought from Berwick Street and made by a family friend. I wanted a dress that was simple, classic and made of beautiful soft material. I wanted to twirl on the dance floor with the dress swishing around me. As we got married on 2nd January, I looked for something to keep me warm, I found a glamourous ivory cape with gemstones round the neckline in Ted Baker, I loved it! My shoes were from Dune and matched the bridesmaids, metallic coloured to add a bit of sparkle for the winter.

Alex & Simon’s Pembroke Lodge Wedding

Pembroke Lodge was one of the very first wedding venues I viewed when I was researching potential locations for these very pages… Not only is this gorgeous house set in quite a spectacular park, but the venue exudes a happy energy and I just adore the weddings that take place here.

Teachers, Alex & Simon, knew Pembroke Lodge was the only one for them and they married during half term on 28th May last year.

Notes from the Bride

Alex:

We chose Pembroke Lodge as I grew up in Richmond Borough and I wanted to get married close to home. Simon and I both love the park and we loved the lodge straight away. We also really liked the way in which we could do everything in the same venue. We only saw one venue and decided it was a yes immediately!

The team were so welcoming and they even agreed to create a bespoke dish of Chicken Milanese with spaghetti (Italian cuisine is our favourite!). It was amazing! The attention to detail and the way they looked after us at Pembroke Lodge was second to none.

When I first saw the dress it was at a wedding fair with my Mum, Simon’s Mum, my Sister Harriet and Simon’s Sister Emily. Both had agreed to be my Bridesmaids. It was a classic dress, which reminded me a little of an Empire line dress and I’m a big Jane Austen fan. I mentioned that I had an appointment the following week at Ellie Sanderson in Beaconsfield and they made sure the dress I had seen was available to try on. I loved it! I particularly loved the fact that it was two dresses; one simple classic strapless dress with a lace overlay which could be removed but which had capped sleeves, perfect for a May wedding.
