This styled shoot started life as a bit of fun for some friends and colleagues to show off their creative skills to each other. But before they knew it, it had grown into a full-blown showcase of some of Norfolk’s finest talent in the wedding industry… all hosted at one of East Anglia’s most prestigious venues – Hales Hall & The Great Barn.
The passion behind these suppliers is lovely and I’ve even included some behind-the-scenes peeks as I just think it’s fab to see how these styled shoots are created!
Here to tell us a little more is Makeup Artist Amanda Steed.
Notes from Norfolk
As a make-up artist, I love to experiment all the time, working to create the freshest, most beautiful looks for my brides. I was chatting to my photographer friends Janie and David – the husband and wife team behind Bigphatphotos who like nothing more than to push the creative boundaries – and a plan began to form.
Janie knew of the most incredible venue in the heart of the Norfolk countryside, the historic Hales Hall & The Great Barn that had just relaunched with luxury accommodation. We asked if they would like to be part of our creative ‘display’ and they agreed.
Of course, we all work with wedding couples up and down the land – from London to Cornwall to Yorkshire and beyond – but we’re passionate about where we are all based and this was a great opportunity to show off the best of what East Anglia has to offer.

Couples are always looking for something new to wow their wedding guests. And we have just the thing!
New for the 2017 wedding season, Ever After are offering exclusively to their booked couples the luxury of their very own pop-up evening lounges. How about post-dinner whisky & cigars in an art deco inspired club lounge..? Or maybe some artisan botanicals in an opulent gin & champagne lounge fitted out with old style Hollywood glamour..? These two brand new pop up lounges are exclusive to this venue, you can’t get them anywhere else!
Each lounge comes with its own 4.5 m square white canopy with roll down sides in case it gets chilly. If the weather is dry the lounges will be set up on the lawns whilst guests are having their wedding breakfast. If the weather is wet the lounges will pop up inside the marquee during the change-over period after your wedding breakfast.
The lounges can be hired together or separately, but there’s a handy discount for hiring both.

Dusky pink lace, pastel grey hair, a semi-naked cake dressed with roses and a confetti shot to die for… I’m loving Amy & Ben’s beautiful big day at Manor By The Lake in Gloucestershire.
This stunning Manor House is nestled in 7 acres of award-winning gardens, including a beautiful Italian garden, splendid picturesque lake, and yew tree walk leading to the Victorian pavilion. See how Amy & Ben used the glorious spaces for their vintage theme.
Notes from the Bride
We chose our amazing venue, Manor By The Lake for our spring wedding. It’s a stunning venue at both day and night, and combines the perfect mixture of traditional and modern elements for a wedding! The Honeymoon Suite is also absolutely beautiful, as were all the guests rooms.
I bought my dress at Wedding Belles of Four Oaks in Sutton Coldfield. After creating a wedding board on Pinterest almost all the pins I saved were by the same designer – Maggie Sottero. I chose the Stella dress, with lace detail, Swarovski crystals, and the sweetheart neckline was so flattering along with the corset waist!
My seamstress created a beautiful one off strap and back piece for me that I could attach and remove with lace that was ordered, and she painstakingly attached the Swarovski crystals by hand. It finished the dress of perfectly!
I also purchased a veil from Wedding Belles so they could match the colour of the dress. For the evening I had my florist choose some dusky pink roses to replace my veil. My shoes were nude court shoes from Kurt Geiger, I wanted plain and simple as my nude lace dress was the main feature.
The bridesmaids wore beautiful lace knee-length dresses with scalloped neckline and capped sleeves in dusty pink. These were from Chi Chi London though I ordered from ASOS. I knew sparkly shoes would look amazing. Kurt Geiger was my lifesaver.
Our hair was styled by Holly Bennett from Fallen Saint Hair, which is actually owned by myself and a friend. This is the reason I was lucky enough to have unlimited amounts of trials for me and the bridesmaids! She was perfect and professional but helped as she’s a good friend of mine and being a guest at the wedding meant she kept an eye on our hair till the very end!

For one day only Bawdon Lodge Farm, Sami Tipi and a selection of hand picked talented suppliers came together to design an inspiration day for couples wanting to host their own tipi wedding. There was live music, street food vans, delicious food from the award winning caterer Thomas The Caterer and even a POP UP SHOP!
But taking centre stage, the tipis were styled to perfection by Tara at Tickety-Boo Events and we simply love the Scandi feels and home interior inspiration. If you’re wondering how to decorate a tipi then this feature is very much for you!
Notes from Sami Tipi and Friends
As a stylist I am constantly inspired by home décor and interiors and it is always a good place to start with to explore colour and textures, from that I chose the basic colour of white, grey and green when designing the styling for the Spring Showcase. Inspired by the minimal Scandi approach to décor I wanted to bring in marble and concrete in some way and so opted for marble runners and stoneware to dress the tables. Incorporating greenery and blush flowers with mustard candles to soften the overall look. Polly & Me also wrote the menu on the marble runners and created a beautiful scroll to hang at the back of the top table. it was such a creative way to draw in the marble effect.
Lights hung from a bespoke hanging feature dressed with leaves and greenery, and tropical plants lined the walk way and entrance inside. I had Peacock chairs, a coffee table and quirky signage to dress around the dancefloor, but I also wanted a statement piece to hang above the band and a laser cut ‘You and Me’ from Polly & Me worked beautifully in the space.
I would describe the look as fresh and minimal.

The last two weeks I’ve been surrounded by the most glorious and unexpected Spring flowers on not one, but two styled shoot editorials! And yes folks, we’re also right on the cusp of peony season. So this surprising blast of autumnal gorgeousness has me craving crackling fires, cosy blankets and a marshmallow or two.
Ross & Lynsey chose The Byre at Inchyra for their wedding celebrations; hidden in the heart of Perthshire, Inchyra is more than a relaxed wedding barn venue, because you can make their 150-acre private estate your own.
Notes from the Photographer
This is the story of Lynsey & Ross’s wedding day.
There was so much hustle and bustle in the morning, with all the girls getting ready at the beautiful Inchyra House. I truly madly deeply LOVED Lynsey’s dress, and oh, that autumnal flower crown by Myrtle & Bracken… I adored it.
The amount of thought and time that Lynsey & Ross had put into their wedding day was evident too – all the wee pumpkins and little apples strung up along the backs of their guests chairs were such a delightful detail.
