Kingshill Barn is a beautiful rustic Kentish barn in a truly extraordinary setting: the heart of a 3,200 acre private farm and Nature Reserve, Elmley.
It is a special place with a stunning wild beauty and huge, evocative skies. It’s on a real island but is in easy reach – only an hour from London and close to the M2, M20 and M25 and the fast train.
As well as the breathtaking wilderness views, the coastal island setting also gives the light here a really special quality – Elmley is a photographer’s paradise. The south-east coastal setting also means that Elmley has more sunshine and less rain than the rest of Kent and the country. In fact for those geographers amongst you Elmley is on a 17 inch rain contour which means they have as little rain as parts of the Sahara! (Disclaimer: but we are making no guarantees… this is the UK afterall!)
This beautiful venue is very nearly full for 2018 and will open for 2019 in the Autumn – therefore they’re not currently accepting viewings.
This very special barn venue is yours to use on an exclusive and relaxed basis, with few restrictions and no hidden costs. This means you can create a wedding which is entirely unique and personal to you.
The stunning traditional barn is adjoined by a pretty walled courtyard which, as well as being the perfect space for lawn games and drinks in the sun, holds a gorgeous open barn, ‘The Linhay’. Both the barn and courtyard have some breathtaking wilderness views out across miles of unspoilt landscape.
So, what makes a wedding at Elmley so special..?
Exclusive use of Kingshill Barn: The barn is in the middle of a private family farm and National Nature Reserve and is exclusively yours for your wedding day.
Four day hire period: The ethos at Kingshill Barn is that a wedding is more than just that day. What makes it a really special event is the time you can spend with your family and friends both before the day, dressing the barn and doing the last minute exciting preparations, and on the day after to reflect, unwind (and laugh). Kingshill Barn only holds a small number of weddings a year and this long hire period is a really important part of weddings here. You have two full set-up days and are welcome to use the barn the day after your wedding for a relaxed brunch.
Few restrictions: You are entirely free to use any supplier you like, including caterers. Live bands and good discos are positively encouraged! For those glamping, acoustic songs around the fire pit till dawn are welcome! The only request is that everyone respects the nature you are sharing Elmley with. This does mean that they can only allow a small number of additional evening guests.
Wow-factor setting: A rustic barn in the middle of a National Nature Reserve! The miles of wilderness views, huge skies and atmospheric landscape are breathtaking.
Unique accommodation: Along with the use of the barn you and your guests will have the use of very special accommodation over your wedding. The three (soon to be four) very pretty – and luxurious – shepherd’s huts look out over miles of unspoilt landscape and receive incredible sunrises; a very special wake-up on your first morning as Mr & Mrs.
You also have the option of having more guests on-site with a pop-up bell tent village.
No hidden costs: Pricing at Kingshill Barn is honest and transparent. They don’t charge corkage and don’t receive commission from suppliers. The accommodation options can be paid for separately if you prefer.
Planning support: Throughout your wedding planning, you will receive plenty of support and you are welcome to visit in the run-up to keep your vision on track! In fact, if you’d like to stay over before your big day you are welcome to discounted stays in the Shepherd Huts so you can experience Elmley at night and create your vision at your leisure!
You will also receive a list of our recommended suppliers – Kingshill Barn is often used for photoshoots and so they have a rather special list of exciting suppliers!
Due to some exciting changes, with the renovation of the beautiful farmhouse, Elmley is not yet accepting viewings for 2019. Please do still get in touch if you would like more information and they can contact you as soon as 2019 dates are open!
