The Setting

Set amongst sacred groves of ancient oak woodland and pasture, equidistant between Dartmoor and Exmoor (a 30-minute drive from the city of Exeter and the M5), Hayne Devon sits within the rolling green countryside of rural Mid Devon. Hidden down a maze of high-banked lanes, the site faces out towards a breathtaking valley that steps gently down to a bend in the river Yeo. South-facing, it gets the first and last of the sun.

The creative duo behind Hayne’s magic are its owners and hosts, Tim and Milla, lead artists in the much-celebrated party band Saloon Star. Heralded as the ‘Best Band in the Business’ by House & Garden and recently listed as the ‘Best Wedding Party Band’ in Harpers Bazaar, this invaluable ‘gained experience’ led the couple to move their young family out of London to create their own dream party venue.

When they first saw Hayne, it was a crumbling ruin, a testament to nature’s resilience. Over the past five years, Tim and Milla, with the guidance of local master artisans, have painstakingly restored the cob, lime, and oak barns and reclaimed the walled gardens and 25 acres of surrounding pasture and woodland. This epic journey from ruin to fully functioning party and events venue is a testament to their unwavering dedication and creative vision.

The Vibe

Hayne Devon is a young and creative 48-hour exclusive-use wedding venue. The vibe is relaxed, enchanting, and soulful. The style would suit anyone who is into historic, rustic-chic, boho, eco-lux, and vintage with modern technology; Hayne is a one-off—it’s a classic. Stunning on-site accommodation includes The Long Barn, Shepherd’s Hut, Bunk Cabin, Yurts, and Bell Tents. You can even bring your own caravan, campervan, or tent!

The substantial and versatile venue consists of three interlinking spaces: The Threshing Barn, Glass Link, and Rustic Lean To. Beautiful interiors feature 17th-century Oak Joinery, a cob and lime structure, biomass underfloor flooring (characterful old buildings with modern technology), a mix of state-of-the-art and reclaimed stylish lighting, and a handcrafted fully stocked bar, complete with a disco ball.

These three interconnecting spaces are not just rooms but canvases for your imagination. They can be scaled to suit a full range of different events, allowing you to adapt the usage to suit the number of guests, the flow of proceedings, and the level of intimacy you may wish to create. Whether you choose to enhance the existing naturalistic beauty of the buildings or style them up to the hilt, each space is a statement in which to entertain.

For even larger events (250+), the lawn area directly in front of the Threshing Barn was landscaped to accommodate the biggest marquees or ‘Giant Hat’ tipis, giving the venue further versatility and scope.
