Cowdray House, formerly the home of Lord & Lady Cowdray, is an outstanding venue now available for exclusive-use hire throughout the year. Located in the West Sussex countryside near Midhurst, it’s 16,500 acres offer total privacy and yet is easily accessible from London and its’ airports.
Whether you are looking to host a large reception or a more intimate gathering, you will find a truly spectacular venue coupled with all the warmth of a family home. Buck Hall with its barrel vaulted ceiling, minstrels gallery and splendid fireplace takes centre stage at the heart of the house, and is ideally suited for the wedding breakfast. Drinks receptions can be held on the manicured croquet lawn with far reaching views of the South Downs or in two elegant reception rooms – the Library and Drawing Room – which open onto the front terrace. Buck Hall, the wood-panelled Dining Room and the Summer Pavilion are all licensed for civil ceremonies.
The house has 15 lavish bedrooms – each individually interior designed with comfortable king size beds and opulent bathrooms. All the bedrooms have been designed with the guests’ needs in mind with luxury toiletries, Cowdray embossed robes and slippers, and most have stunning views across the gardens. There is also additional accommodation available in the North Wing, which is attached to the House and sleeps 12, the Golf Lodge, which can accommodate 16 guests, and four pretty holiday cottages that sleep 13.
Guests at Cowdray can enjoy polo, golf, clay pigeon shooting, fly fishing and other country pursuits all of which are available on the extensive Estate. There is also the opportunity to learn to play polo during the summer months at the Polo Academy or enjoy the fabulous leisure facilities at the House including the indoor and outdoor swimming pools, billiards room, tennis court, cricket pitch, croquet lawn and even your own private bowling alley.
