A Georgian mansion surrounded by rolling Somerset hills, Backwell House is a truly idyllic location for a wedding. It’s only 15 minute drive from Bristol town centre and it has excellent bus links.
Backwell House is a thrillingly luxurious 19th Century Country House just outside Bristol, combining classic Georgian architecture with stunning contemporary interiors.
The 9-bedroom house sleeps 18 and has an indoor room for ceremonies of up to 60 people – although you might want to tie the knot in the Victorian glasshouse, ornamental gardens or get married under canvas in their giant conjoined tipis, with room for up to 120 guests. An unlimited number of guests can be hosted for a ceremony on the front steps of the house.
Thanks to their in-house wedding planner, you can leave the logistics to them and focus on the fun bits. The house also has a swimming pool (set to open Spring 2017), ornamental walled gardens, as well as massages and treatments, so it’s a lovely place to relax for a few days before or after your wedding day.
Oh and Backwell House is green at heart, so you can rest assured you’ll be treading lightly: the house is heated with a biomass boiler, and all ingredients used in their cooking are procured locally.
